If the therapist feels that the client might hurt himself or someone else or when the client is put on psychopharmacological medication, family support becomes vital.
Parents / spouse / children / relatives are brought into the picture so that they can understand the situation and learn how to help the client.
Should the therapist feel that the client needs a support structure beyond that available, the client is recommended to a psychiatrist.
The psychiatrist would then on the basis of the diagnosis, prescribe the required psycho-pharmacological medication. The therapist would actively monitor this process along with the psychiatrist until the psychiatrist feels that the medication can be reduced or withdrawn.
